About
Dr. Avisak Bhattacharjee is a clinical and health researcher and an award-wining science communicator. He is a health manager, a clinical teacher, and a specialist surgeon. His focused area of research is Women’s health and breast health.
He successfully completed three research projects at the University of Adelaide in collaboration with SA Health and Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) with A/P Wendy Ingman. Together they discovered the factors influencing the knowledge of women about breast density, anxiety status after breast density notification using the State and Trait Anxiety Tool (STAI) , and a how to consult breast density patient in clinical practice. These researches were extremely important as they enriched the breast density literature in Asia Pacific region.
Dr. Avisak blends his research with a strong interest in public engagement, covering everything from sharing the innovative findings directly with patients to to speaking at public events. He has won multiple awards for his research and presentations.
His research works were confidently cited in the BreastScreen Australia Position Statement on Mammographic (Breast) Density and Screening, A Practical Guide for GPs in Australia, and Breast Density Proposal submitted by Breast Cancer Aotearoa Coalition (BCAC) New Zealand.
